NEWS line NEW LEGISLATIVE CHANGES
Beginning January 1, 2021, two major changes went into effect:
• Positive Response - Facility owners are required to respond to the Alabama 811 Positive Response system. Excavators may check the status of their locate request via the Alabama 811 website at the “Check Positive Response” link on top of page.
• Underground Facility Owners who have more than 25K customers and more than 500 miles of underground must become a member of Alabama 811 by 1/1/21. Complete a membership application at the link at the top of the page at www.al811.com.
ONLINE AND MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR LOCATE REQUESTS
There are two options to “calling” in a locate request. Locate requests can be processed online via the web portal or the mobile application. Visit Alabama 811’s website at www.al811.com to get more information about these two programs.
