2020 Alabama Damage Prevention Summit
The 2020 Alabama Damage Prevention Summit (to borrow a famous line) ... took a beating and kept on ticking. COVID – 19 almost single-handily created a virtual approach to practically all industries. However, many individuals determined they would mask up and social distance themselves to create a safe environment to meet
in person to gather at this annual damage prevention event scheduled for September 22 – 24, 2020.
We forgot to get Sally’s permission. Hurricane Sally made landfall in Gulf Shores on September 16, ironically on the 16th anniversary of Alabama’s last hurricane landfall (Ivan).
Not to be deterred, the Summit was rescheduled for November
30 – December 2, 2020. Though this edition of Alabama’s Summit was small in number; the sponsors, exhibitors and attendees who arrived at the site were enthusiastic, aware of their responsibility to be safe in a difficult time and focused on the future of Alabama’s damage prevention program.
We look forward to the 2021 Alabama Summit scheduled for September 28 – 30. We believe that the Summit is the place to
be if damage prevention and public safety is your thing. But we shall never forget the 2020 Summit because it reminds us that no matter the odds against us, it can be done.
But it couldn’t have been done without you!
